Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment

We are guided by our unwavering belief in the potential of every student and every adult.
We believe ALL learners can and will succeed in school, work, and the community.

At Millbury Public Schools, we believe learning should ignite curiosity, fuel purpose, and build a sense of belonging for every student who walks through our doors. We know that when students feel challenged, valued, and inspired, they rise to meet even the most ambitious goals—and discover just how much they’re capable of achieving.

Our Instructional Vision is the promise we make to every learner and family in our community:

  • Students will experience learning that is meaningful and relevant to their lives.

  • They will be active participants, thinking deeply, collaborating, questioning, and creating.

  • They will be seen, heard, and celebrated for who they are and what they bring to our schools.

This vision comes alive through our Instructional Planning Model, built on three essential questions that guide every lesson:

  1. Objectives – What do we want students to learn, and why is it important?

  2. Thinking – What ideas, questions, and challenges will students grapple with?

  3. Activities – What will students do to explore, connect, and make their thinking visible?

We are committed to planning not as a routine task, but as an act of purpose—one that ensures every learning experience is designed to spark engagement and stretch students’ thinking. In our classrooms, productive struggle is celebrated. It’s where perseverance is born, where confidence grows, and where students discover their ability to tackle hard things together.

This is what transformative learning looks like in Millbury:

  • Classrooms alive with curiosity and conversation.
  • Teachers guiding, challenging, and supporting without taking away the joy of discovery.
  • Students leaving each day knowing they mattered and that their learning has purpose.

Our community has asked for more challenge, more connection, and more meaning. We are answering that call with a shared commitment to create learning that inspires, empowers, and prepares every student to thrive—here in Millbury and wherever life takes them next.
